While Jose Canseco’s latest Twitter explosion involving ex-girlfriend Leila Shennib is rather epic, he had quite the hilarious Saturday at the ballpark. Canseco is a player-manager for the Yuma Scorpions, an independent team in Arizona. This was his pitching line last night: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K. Jose tweeted he “had the knuckle dancing and will be sore tomorrow.”
In short, he started the game because both teams’ lineups were made up almost entirely of pitchers. The other team’s manager – Tim Johnson – was Canseco’s manager in 1998 with Toronto, and he abruptly resigned before Saturday’s game. As a result, several of his position players quit and Jose wanted to make a fair game of it all. Pretty hilarious.
